Poem: Half Way Up The Stairs

Poem: Half Way Up The Stairs

Half way up the stairs

Half way up the stairs
Is a thought that I get.
There isn’t any other
Thought quite like it.

It’s not one to wait,
It can’t be denied,
It’s always very interesting
And interrupts my stride.

Poem: Old Tracks II

Poem: Old Tracks II

Two days ago I published a poem called Old Tracks on this blog. This poem, Old Tracks II, follows on from that poem….

OLD TRACKS II

Old Tracks II a poem

And knowing
New tracks
Are always
On offer,

You can afford
To look around
As you travel
The old ones

And notice
What’s new?
In this oft taken
Journey?

Why have you come
Here now?
What is there to see?
What gift is there

In the midst
Of this discomfort
And distress?
What beauty

At the centre
Of the storm?
What knowledge
Awaits the one

Who can be still?
And wait
And listen,
Before the coming

Of another train
And journey onto
New tracks,
As yet unseen.

Poem: Old Tracks II

Poem: Old Tracks

Old Tracks

And then you seem to fall
Through a rabbit hole,
Like Alice.
And all of a sudden

You’re back on old tracks.
The tracks where
Experience looks
Like it’s coming

From out there.
From him, from her
From your past
From your wiring.

How did you get here?
How do you get out?
How do you get back
To knowing

Where your experience
Is really coming from?
Who you really are?
What life is.

There’s nothing to fix
All is well.
Even on these old tracks
The train will halt

And you can hop off
Cross the platform
Catch another train
And take a new track.
