Online Exploration

The Missing Link by Sydney Banks

A 13 month exploration

A small group, online exploration hosted by Juliet Fay

The Missing Link is one of six books Sydney Banks wrote pointing towards what he saw during his experience. To me it illuminates how the spiritual nature of life interacts with this human experience in an understanding that has become known as The Three Principles. It is the only one of his books which is not told as a story.

Exploring this book in a small group will be a relaxing opportunity to read, listen and reflect with a group and share the wisdom that arises in monthly calls and in a private Facebook group. As well as being part of a ‘quiet space’ where we can rest in a deeper feeling, joining this group is an expression of an intention to look more towards the spiritual nature of life.

Although the book is short (just 142 pages), each chapter provides the basis for reflection and exploration during the 13 monthly calls and for the weeks in between. You can read the chapter prior to the calls and return to the words as many times as you wish during each month. On each call, there may be reading of selected passages or the whole of the chapter in focus.

In thinking of a name for this programme (and talking with others) I considered names like Study group, Book Club and Discussion group and in the end went with Exploration as this is not an invitation for us to get up in our intellects but instead to fall into a more open, curious place and see what arises as we sit with Sydney Banks’ writing over a long period of time.

This is the first time I have facilitated this kind of programme based on one particular book. My experience of exploring this understanding known as The Three Principles with a small group over a longer period of time ( as I did during the Facilitator Training with the Insight Space), is it can be a profound experience where deep friendships are formed which continue to flourish and grow.

Why this might be for you

You have come across the 3 Principles and want to explore more

You keep hearing about Sydney Banks and are curious to look deeper into this foundational book

You haven’t explored Sydney Banks’ material yet and wonder what you might be missing

You are sharing the 3 Principles with groups or individuals and want a deeper appreciation for the source material

You like learning in a small, interactive group where there is time and space to contribute rather than mostly just listening

Group size is limited to 8 people

You have worked with me before and would like to join me for another programme

Your wisdom is nudging you to do this

Why I am running this programme

I love books and am enjoying exploring a different way of ‘reading’ and reflecting which I’d like to share with others

The more I explore Sydney Banks materials, the more wisdom I hear inside me

I love working with groups as something amazing happens when a quiet and reflective space is created among 3 or more people.

Sharing the 3 Principles brings up wisdom, joy and hope for everyone involved and I love finding different ways to do that

I have worked overseas and enjoy the diversity of an international group

I appreciate and have the capacity to use technology to offer this programme

My wisdom is nudging me to do this!

As there are many experienced teachers offering similar programmes, I was musing over what is different about my programme and I realise it is the being ‘in conversation’ aspect that is possible in a small group. This is what I am drawn to offer for those who prefer an intimate setting. This will be a group exploration which I host and facilitate. Seeing what emerges from these conversations is part of the wonder and joy of it.

This Book Club programme is limited to a maximum of 8 participants so that everyone has the chance to be heard. If you feel called to join the programme please carry on down the page to see exactly what is included. There are FAQs at the very end of the web page.

Registration for this programme will close Monday 15th January and no further participants will be added.

Are there any additional costs?

You need to purchase of your own copy of The Missing Link by Sydney Banks.

Zoom is the programme we will be using for the telecalls. It can be free to use for participants. For the Zoom meetings, there is no cost to join from a computer, smartphone, or tablet. If you participate by phone, it is possible that you will incur long distance charges.

What is Zoom?

Zoom is a videoconferencing platform similar to Skype, but it has a few more options for the host. The free Zoom software runs on Macs and PCs and on smartphones and tablets using Android, iOS (Apple), or Blackberry operating systems. Once you sign up you will get an email with a link to the calls.  If you have never used zoom before it is best to allow 10 or 15 minutes before the first call, as you will be asked to download an app to your phone, tablet or computer. You don’t need to set up an account to join a meeting.

Audio and visual

It is strongly recommended that you use headphones during the calls. Headphones that work with smartphones are generally okay. It helps improve the audio for the other participants. The host can mute people which is sometimes necessary to cut down on background noise. You have the option to show yourself on video or not. If you prefer not to be seen at times, that is fine.

Will the live zoom calls be recorded?

These will be recorded and a link to the file sent to participants for you download. These recordings are for your own private use.

Dates and times

Solcare is based in the UK which is on GMT time (the same as London). If you are in a different time zone, please check the time where you are for any scheduled video-conference calls. The World Meeting Planner Clock is a handy tool. Check regularly as times can be affected by changes for Daylight Savings Time.

Paying in other currencies

The button takes you to a Paypal page where you can enter the amount you would like to pay in UK GBP. To check the exchange rate if your home currency is not UK GBP, check live values with this currency converter. Paypal can usually handle currency conversion if you are paying in a currency other than UK GBP. If you have any difficulties, please email me.
